How To Get Cloud Nails at Home
If you want to get this gorgeous seasonal style at home, you’ll need your regular nail dip powder kit and manicure essentials. Here’s what you need to know to get started.
Tools and Materials
You only need a few important tools and materials for a cloud nail look, including the following:
- Manicure kit, with a cuticle pusher, four-way nail file, and brush
- Base coat, activator, and top coat
- Build powder
- White and blue powders
- Pointed nail tool or toothpick
- Aluminum foil
Step One: Begin with a basic manicure or by simply pushing the cuticles back with your cuticle tool.
Step Two: Apply your base coat to about ¾ of the nail and then dip into the build powder one nail at a time.
Step Three: Apply the base coat and dip your nails into the blue powder, one at a time. Repeat for full coverage.
Step Four: Dab a few drops of the base liquid onto foil or plastic so that you have enough to create a design. Use your pointed tool or toothpick to draw your cloud illustration on top of your dried polish.
Step Five: Shake your white powder over the wet cloud shapes. Dust off the excess powder.
Step Six: Add a layer of base liquid over your clouds. Dip your nails in the base powder and repeat the process.
Step Seven: Apply the activator liquid and let dry.
Step Eight: Buff out and smooth the nails over and apply a second layer of activator. Let it dry.
Step Nine: Apply two layers of top coat liquid, allowing your nails to dry between each layer. Sit back and enjoy!
